Swine and Bird Travel Permits

All domestic animals entering Georgia must meet the interstate movement health requirements. For details, click on the following link: http://rules.sos.state.ga.us/gac/40-13-2

Swine entering Georgia must be accompanied by an official Certificate of Veterinary Inspection which includes a permit number, identifying each animal with a USDA approved metal ear tag, registry tattoo or registry ear notches.

All domestic Swine, Ratites, and Pet Birds require a prior permit to enter the State of Georgia. Swine that have been fed garbage may not enter Georgia under any conditions. No swine vaccinated against Pseudorabies are allowed entry into Georgia. All Feral Swine wishing to enter Georgia must contact the State Veterinarian’s Office at phone number (404)656-3671.

The following birds are restricted from entry into Georgia except by special permit from the State Veterinarian: Java Rice Bird; Quaker or Monk Parakeet.
